PRR 8705, FS-24M, 1960
Gallitzin. Here is an original photo that I took at the State Route 53 Bridge near Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, in November of 1960. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #8703 and #8705. Both are FS-24M "Train Masters" built by Fairbanks-Morse and rated at 2,400 horsepower each. #8703 was constructed in August of 1956, while #8705 was built in September of the same year. In this context, they're serving as tail-end pushers for an eastbound coal train that's heading toward Gallitzin and the New Portage Tunnel. ("Red Shift" slide converted to Black & White.)
