| Wye Switches. Here is an original photo that I took at the Wye Switches in Duncansville, Pennsylvania, on 4 April 1964. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8626, an AS-18M road switcher built by the American Locomotive Company in February of 1956 and rated at 1,800 horsepower. It's pulling a 40-car mixed-cargo freight train from the Hollidaysburg Yards to the Altoona Yards. Note the photographers shadow in the foreground! |
