Description:
In the early 1990s, Statens Järnvägar decided to modernize a number of small diesel locomotives of the series Z65 into Z70 class. The locomotives were equipped at Kalmar Works with new Scania engines (for the previously existing Rolls-Royce engines) and added remote control. The 701 is the first of a serie of 50 modified units.
