| Album Info: | Spent a couple hours wandering around the Southland Model Railroad Show at Richards High School on Central Ave in Oak Lawn. This show has grown leaps and bounds from the first time I came in 2004 when there were only a few layouts and no vendors. Now the show gets over 2,000 visitors and has tons of displays and vendors. The venerable John Swajkart was also in attendance, the author of the legendary Train Watchers Guide to Chicago (and St. Louis & Kansas City) selling his DVD's. I had a chat with him and told him about the countless hours I spent poring over his book in the late 80's as a kid. Anyways, lots of layouts in all different scales...enjoy! Useless trivia: Richards is where NBA star Dwayne Wade attended high school (bussed in from Robbins). |
